Restoration Tours
In 2025, the Healing Our Waters Coalition launched a new initiative focused on engaging and educating decision makers on the restoration successes in the Great Lakes. The restoration tours provided our partners, local advocates, and organizations with the opportunity to showcase the important work the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative has contributed to improving the health of communities and the Great Lakes. We had huge success with the first round of tours, and invite you to apply to host a Restoration Tour for 2026!
The Coalition is seeking creative proposals for visits to restoration sites, businesses or communities benefiting directly from the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative and/or water infrastructure investments. Site visits should include experts who are able to talk about the restoration process and ecological impact of the project, local business owners who can demonstrate the economic impacts of the project, and other community partners that have been impacted. Restoration site visits will address many of the critical issues and challenges facing the Great Lakes. The Coalition aims to provide site visit attendees with engaging educational opportunities to learn about the impacts of restoration investments. The site visits can showcase one project or many based on the proximity of projects. Projects of all sizes and locations within the region are encouraged. The Coalition has compensation of $5,000 -$10,000 for organizations whose applications are accepted.
