Peregrine Falcon

jasoncousino2007-07-31photoadultfalcon-webres.JPG This photo comes to us from Jason of Newport, Michigan. He writes:

“A Peregrine Falcon rests on top of DTE Energy’s River Rouge Power Plant, overlooking the ice flows of the Detroit River. The falcons come to hunt around the facility and are spotted frequently by employees. Peregrine Falcons, while still endangered in Michigan and elsewhere, are making a remarkable comeback from the brink of extinction, and testifying to the improved health and quality of the Great Lakes. This bird presented itself with a wonderful backdrop that includes the Detroit River, the Ambassador Bridge that connects Detroit to Windsor, Ontario in Canada, and the impressive Detroit City skyline.”

Thanks, Jason, for sending in this awesome photo!
