In the wake of recent Supreme Court rulings that have rolled back clean water protections, a national coalition of conservation organizations is urging Great Lakes citizens to call their representatives today, Wednesday, September 26, urging them to support the Clean Water Restoration Act.
The bipartisan water bill would ensure that the Great Lakes, along with other streams, tributaries and wetlands are protected from further pollution under the Clean Water Act. We know, you thought that was already the case. Well, surprise, according to the group, it will take this act of Congress to reinstate the scope of the Clean Water Act to its original intent when it was first passed 30-years ago.
The coalition is requesting that advocates call their U.S. House delegations between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. today.
That means you! Pick up the phone and call. You can make a difference.
Here’s what to do:
Call (202) 224-3121 and ask for your representative’s office. Speak with your representative or a staff member who handles environmental issues.
The message is simple:
Please support the Clean Water Restoration Act (H.R. 2421) now. The Clean Water Restoration Act will restore longstanding environmental protection under the Clean Water Act for all of our nation’s waters. The Act will ensure protection of waterways in communities across the country whether they are large or small, rural or urban. The House needs to pass this bill ASAP.
