Scientists improve methods for fighting sea lamprey

Research funded by the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative enabled scientists to trap and kill more sea lamprey in the St. Mary’s River, which is home to the largest population of the ravenous invaders in the Great Lakes basin.

Improving methods for capturing and killing sea lamprey, which attack desirable fish species, will further reduce a major threat to the $7 billion Great Lakes fishery. Read more here.
