Innovative project unleashes a long-hidden creek

A $2 million project that restored a creek at Indiana Dunes State Park has created new fish and wildlife habitat and reduced the amount of polluted runoff entering Lake Michigan.

For 80 years, Dunes Creek was contained in a large underground pipe located under a parking lot. Now it flows unimpeded to Lake Michigan, thanks to the efforts of park officials who worked diligently to restore 1,500 linear feet of the creek. Read more here.
