Water Tickling some Little Toes
Brigid in Oakpark, Ill., sends us this photograph in the k-8 category. About the photo she writes:
“This is a picture of me and my sister enjoying our day on Cana Island in Bailey’s Harbor, WI, on Lake Michigan. We were on a small rock getting our feet wet as the cool water came up on our toes and felt like a tickle. Looking up at the light house I realized that that light house saved many lives, and possibly I was standing were a lighthouse keeper was once saving a life. The great lakes play a very important part of everyday life. The water we drink, the place we swim, transportation and more. If we aren’t careful it could all be gone, this contest is just so inspiring to me and many people. I hope this can help.”
Thanks, Brigid, for sharing this photo! And for those inspiring words!
It’s not too late to enter the Great Lakes story and photo contest. You, too, can enter for a chance to win prizes.
You can also participate in the effort to restore the Great Lakes. Get involved today in the effort to protect our lakes, our public health, our economy, our drinking water, and our way of life.

Wow, I took this a long time ago! I almost forgot about it and what I wrote. But just because I forgot that I wrote the above caption, does not mean that we should forget about our great lakes. The lakes should last longer than any of our lives but they won’t if we aren’t careful. Wouldn’t it be sad if your great grandchildren couldn’t enjoy the same beauty that you will always remember from your childhood?
