Advisory Board Releases Final Recommendations for 2015-2019 GLRI Action Plan

With the Action Plan that currently directs the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative set to expire at the end of this year, the FY 2015-2019 Action Plan is being drafted with input coming from many sources. One such source, the Great Lakes Advisory Board (GLAB), has just released their final recommendations on the new Action Plan.

The Healing Our Waters-Great Lakes Coalition has also provided feedback on the new Action Plan and you can read our letter from July, 2013 here.  The recommendations of the GLAB that were released in December are representative of the recommendations made in July by the HOW Coalition. The GLAB recommendations can be read in full here.

The GLAB is a compilation of Great Lakes stakeholders charged with advising the Chair of the Great Lakes Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF), Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Gina McCarthy, on Great Lakes restoration issues. The HOW Coalition has a representative on the GLAB, Field Director Jennifer Hill.

Good work has been done under the original Action Plan for the GLRI, but there is more work is left to do to make the Great Lakes a healthy place to live and play. And with this new iteration of the Action Plan, we have a chance to make a good program even better. A draft should be available in the next few months for the public’s review.
