Support is increasing among members of the House of Representatives to fund the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative at $300 million in 2015. The letter to House Appropriators that has been circulating since last week asks members of the House Appropriation committee to please return funding levels for the GLRI to $300 million. The President’s 2015 budget proposed cutting the GLRI by $25 million, down to $275 million. The deadline to sign on to this letter is March 28, 2014, and the letter currently has 18 co-signers.

John Dingell (D-Mich.), David Joyce (R-Ohio), Sander Levin (D-Mich.), Louise Slaughter (D-N.Y.), Gwen Moore (D-Wisc.), Marcia Fudge (D-Ohio), Dan Benishek (R-Mich.), Alcee Hastings (D-Fla.), Brian Higgins (D-N.Y.), Reid Ribble (R-Wisc.), Bill Johnson (R-Ohio), Ron Kind (D-Wisc.), Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.), Paul Tonko (D-N.Y.), Danny Davis (D-Ill.), Steve Israel (D-N.Y.), Rick Nolan (D-Minn.), and Keith Ellison (D-Minn.).
