On Friday the Senate Interior Appropriations Subcommittee released its draft 2012 funding bill for the Interior Department and EPA. The Great Lakes Restoration Initiative is set to receive $300 million under the Senate bill.
This is very good news. If that amount stays the same during the debate on this bill (coalition staff in D.C. say that it likely will), then the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative will likely get $300 million for fiscal year 2012 since this is the same amount in the House.
In this budget climate, that will help restoration efforts continue to move along—funding local projects that produce results for people, communities and the economy.
