Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown: ‘We must Continue to be Vigilant’ in Battle against Asian carp

U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) remains open to building a physical barrier to separate the Great Lakes and Mississippi River basins to block the movement of harmful non-native species such as the Asian carp between the two iconic waters.

In an interview posted on DredgingToday.com, Sen. Brown says:

“We must also continue to be vigilant about preventing Asian carp’s spread to the Great Lakes and Lake Erie,” Brown added. “That means stepping up efforts to prevent the migration of Asian carp into Lake Erie—separating the Mississippi River and the Great Lakes if necessary—to preserve our lake for future generations of Ohioans.”

He also voices support for the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative.
