Funding Available for Great Lakes Coastal Communities to Respond to Storms

There is a funding opportunity available from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Coastal Storms Program.  The program is funding projects that help Great Lakes coast communities plan for, respond to, and recover from coastal storms. Groups in any of the eight Great Lakes States may apply and the deadline is 5p Eastern on Wednesday, December 18 for preproposals.

The program is specifically interested in these four priority areas for funding:

  1. Improving beach hazard observations, modeling, forecasting/warning, and risk communication
  2. Addressing the impacts of stormwater on natural resources and promoting best management practices
  3. Enhancing shoreline mapping, visualization, and management
  4. Hazard mitigation and community resilience
