Activities
The Great Lakes feature some of the country’s finest birding, boating, camping and hiking, swiming. The diverse array of fish, birds, and other wildlife that flourish in and around the five freshwater seas support a thriving tourism and outdoor recreation industry that exceeds $18 billion annually attributable to fishing, hunting and wildlife-watching alone.Unfortunately, invasive species, sewage contamination and other threats harm not only Great Lakes and its outdoor economy, they threaten a way of life for the millions of people who fish, boat, swim and recreate in the Great Lakes.
The Healing Our Waters Coalition is fighting to protect our Great Lakes and our outdoor heritage. We're working with elected officials in our nation's capitol to advance manageable solutions to the problems facing the lakes, so this great resource can be enjoyed now and for generations to come.
